FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Got a question about competing? Start here. If you can't find your answer, reach out to us on social media or via the contact page.
How do I apply?
Head to the Apply page and complete the multi-step form. You'll need to provide your details, a short introduction video, and outfit images. The form saves your progress automatically, so you can finish it later on the same device.
Is there an application fee?
No. Applying to Box Battle is completely free. There are no hidden fees at any stage of the competition.
What are the three rounds?
Round 1 is Traditional / Ceremonial / Ethnic Attire, where you present an outfit reflecting your cultural heritage. Round 2 is Red Carpet, a formal show-stopping look. Round 3 is Casual Wear, but only the highest-scoring contestant from each country after Round 2 qualifies for this final round.
How is the winner decided?
Four judges score each contestant on a scale of 1–10 per round based on theme accuracy, creativity, styling, accessories, presentation, and impact. The judges' scores from all three rounds are combined with audience poll bonus points (1st = +10, 2nd = +8, 3rd = +6, 4th = +4) to determine the final rankings.
Can I change my outfit after judging starts?
No. Once your turn begins and the outfit is presented, that is what the judges will score. Make sure you're fully prepared before your segment.
Can I question my score?
Judges' scoring decisions are final. The only grounds for appeal are calculation or administrative errors — not disagreements with a judge's opinion.
What are the prizes?
Awards are given to the Champion, Runner-up, Third Place, Audience Favourite, Overall Best Dressed, and Judges' Favourite. Specific prize details are announced before each edition. Prizes are paid within one week of the event.
Do I need to be in a specific country to apply?
Box Battle is open to contestants from multiple countries. Each edition features a set number of countries, and the highest-scoring contestant from each country advances to the Grand Final. Check the current edition's details for the participating countries.
What should I wear for the introduction video?
The introduction video is about showing your personality, not a specific outfit. Wear something that represents your style. The outfit judging happens during the live event rounds.
Can previous contestants apply again?
Yes! Alumni and past contestants are welcome to apply for future editions. Each edition is a fresh competition with new themes and opportunities.
How long is the live event?
The event typically runs for about 3 hours, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM UK time. Make sure you're available for the full duration on the event day.
What happens if I can't make it to the live event?
You must be available for the full duration of the live session. If you withdraw after being selected, the next highest-scoring applicant from the same country may be offered your spot.
